IMAX Corporation (USA) (IMAX) has announced plans for virtual reality theaters in six cities.

IMAX, Virtual Reality

The new theaters will be located across the world and will start opening this year. The first of these theaters is planned for Los Angeles, Calif. It’s unknown where the other theaters will be located, but one may be opened in China.

IMAX won’t be showing full-length films at the theaters when they open. Instead, the company is looking to show short, 10-minute films. It could charge customers between $7 and $10 for these experiences. The company didn’t say how much it’s dedicating to this effort, reports The Wall Street Journal.

IMAX also recently announced that it’s working with Alphabet Inc’s (GOOG,GOOGL) Google to create virtual reality cameras. It will also give the tech company access to its documentary footage for 3D conversion.
