Alphabet Inc‘s (NASDAQ:GOOG,NASDAQ:GOOGL) AI division DeepMind is launching a tool that will help diagnose eye diseases.
The tech giant announced Tuesday that the technology will use data from one million anonymous eye scans from London’s Moorfields Eye Hospital to learn how to detect eye conditions.
Macular degeneration and sight loss caused by diabetes are among the illnesses that DeepMind will help diagnose. The Macular Society and other eye-related organizations have expressed their support to Google.
GOOG stock is down 1.3% and GOOGL stock is down 1.4%.
