Google Classroom Update: 5 New Features to Know

Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG,NASDAQ:GOOGL) has updated Google Classroom, which serves as a digital whiteboard for students.

Google ClassroomThe company is hoping the move will enhance the learning process for students in a more convenient manner. Here are five things to know about it:

  • Teachers can use Google Classroom to create or edit assignments, including math problems and multiple choice questions. They can also add or edit grades online.
  • They have the option of adding parents to the mix with an invitation that allows parents to view their child’s progress. Parents can even add comments to the whiteboard if they so choose.
  • Naturally, this can be the preeminent tool in some classes for students to do their homework.
  • Google for Education users can also link up their academic progress with their inbox, allowing assignments to be sent via email, or notifications that are sent via email.
  • It will also link up with Expeditions, which offers a slate of academic experiences, including trips through the human vascular system.

Alphabet also launched Duo today, a service that is similar to FaceTime and Skype, allowing for video-calling capabilities with a simple interface. The app aims to surpass its competitors with reliable connections that don’t lag or drop easily.

The company also rolled out Google Play Family Library last month, which allows up to six family members to share purchased content.

GOOG stock is up 0.4% Wednesday. GOOGL stock is up 0.5%.
