No Man’s Sky has come under fire as customers claim the game was falsely advertised in its website and the Steam engine.

The studio that created the game — Hello Games — is being investigated by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), which is based in the U.K.. Valve is the company that runs the game on Steam, and they are also being investigated.

Players are claiming that screens and video on Steam featured a different style of combat, unique buildings, “ship flying behaviour” and creatures that were of a different size than what was promised on screenshots. No Man’s Sky failed to deliver in all these fronts.

The Steam version of the game has received overwhelmingly negative reviews, as well as several complaints filed with the ASA. Promotional images of the game also showed higher quality graphics than the game offers, even when using the best gaming gear.

A Reddit thread was opened in response to the game’s shortcomings and both Hello Games and Valve have been contacted regarding the matter. The companies have yet to issue a public statement to address the issue.

No Man’s Sky was one of the year’s most anticipated games due to its exploratory nature that allows you to take an adventure into different parts of outer space, examining different planets and its inhabitants. There is plenty of exploration to do but it appears to come short of what was expected.
