JK Rowling Confirms There Will Be 5 ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Movies

Harry Potter fans are in for a treat as JK Rowling confirms there will be more Fantastic Beasts movies.

Fantastic Beasts, JK RowlingJK Rowling, the author of the original Harry Potter book series, announced on Thursday that there will be a total of five Fantastic Beasts movies. This is an increase over previous expectations, which had the new film series being a trilogy. The news was also confirmed by the official Fantastic Beasts Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) account.

JK Rowling also told her fans on Twitter that she is the screenwriter for the Fantastic Beasts movies. She told these fans that she is currently finishing up her treatment for the second film in the series, reports ABC News.

JK Rowling wasn’t the only one dropping hints about the Fantastic Beasts movies. David Yates, the director of the film, said that Dumbledore will be mentioned by some characters in the film, but that he won’t actually appear.

Another famous wizard from the original series will make an appearance in the movies. This is Grindelwald, who was ruling over Europe as a dark wizard at this time the series takes place. Yates didn’t want to say too much about Grindelwald, but did say he will be a “much more prominent part of the stories going forward, Polygon notes.

The first Fantastic Beasts movie, titled Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, will debut in theaters on Nov, 18, 2016. The second film is set to make its way to theaters in November of 2018. The title for this film hasn’t been revealed yet.
