McDonald’s is planning to keep Ronald McDonald out of the spotlight until the creepy clown trend that is plaguing the United States comes to an end. This means that the mascot won’t be showing up for as many community events.

Keeping Ronald McDonald out of public view is a good idea on McDonald’s part. The increasing amount of clown sighting in the United States has some people freaked out. It just makes sense not to advertise with a mascot that is a clown while this is going on.

The string of clown sighting in the United States started in August. At the time, there was a person in a clown costume trying to lure kids into the woods near an apartment complex located in Greenville, S.C. The sightings started to spread after this with more reports of creepy clowns popping up.

The creepy clown sightings across the United States has resulted in more than just Ronald McDonald staying out of public sight. Some clowns are upset with way they are being portrayed. To counter the negative views, a Clown Lives Matter rally will be taking place on Oct. 15.

InvestorPlace has collected its own list of recent creepy clown sights. You can check it out at this link. This also isn’t the first time that creepy clowns have shown up to scare people. California saw many creepy clowns in 2014 and the United Kingdom had its own clown problem a year earlier.
