Taco Bell Restaurant to Be Built From Shipping Containers

Taco Bell, which is owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. (NYSE:YUM), is opening a unique location in Southern California.

The new Taco Bell location will only have outside seating. This helps the company save on costs as it looks to incorporate more environmentally friendly designs into its locations. Opening this location in Southern California makes sense due to the sunny weather in the area.

This isn’t actually the first time that Taco Bell has opened a restaurant made from shipping containers. It also had popup shops in other locations that were created from shipping containers. However, this is the first time a location made of the material will be permanent. It also said it may use the idea for other locations, reports Eater.

“We love the idea of building a store out of a container,” Jeff Geller, Executive Vice President of Alvarado, told OCRegister. “Taco Bell has a mission to be as green as possible and as a franchisee, we want to follow in its path.”

Shipping containers have started to rise in popularity with people looking to build homes on a budget. There are various plans online for creating homes from shipping containers. Those that have gone through the process also offer advice online to help others avoid the problems they encountered in the effort.
