Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) may soon add live sports streaming to its Prime service.

Amazon PrimeThe e-commerce retailer announced today that it is exploring the possibility of improving its $99 a year service by striking deals with one or more major sports leagues in the U.S. to stream sporting events live.

The membership already has discounted prices and cheaper shipping, as well as streaming offerings for movies and TV. Soon, you could also be able to watch your favorite games live with no additional cost.

The three largest leagues in the country — Major League Baseball, National Football League and National Basketball Association — are reportedly in talks with the company over including their games on Amazon Prime.

The service also includes a library of Books available to rent. The decision to add a live sporting stream option would be in line with the moves that other companies are making, including Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR).

The social media site signed an agreement to live stream 10 Thursday Night Football games during the 2016-17 season. Meanwhile, Facebook, Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) has also been making moves to live stream sporting events.

These moves could mark a new direction in the way we consume sports as we move into a more digital age where less and less people seem to be subscribed to cable, while being more in touch with their laptops, mobile phones and other devices.

AMZN shares are up 1.2% Tuesday.
