Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG,NASDAQ:GOOGL) has announced a new Google Play update.
There is a slate of new or improved features that make it better than ever. Here are seven things you should know about it:
- The service already offered you travel and sports updates, but now it offers you music updtates.
- The company calls it “a fresh take on our music streaming service that is smarter, easier to use, and much more assistive.”
- Google Play will now use machine learning to determine the music you like.
- It will also examine other factors such as your location, activity and weather, rolling out hand-picked playlists that personalize your music for where you are and what music you want.
- There is also a “Recents” button that will look at the music you have been listening to recently.
- There is a new offline feature that stores songs for you, most of which are songs you listened to recently. Even if you lose data, as long as your phone is charged, you will be able to access these songs.
- The update is not live yet but it will be out sooner rather than later.
There are other new and upgraded features that have not been announced but will likely be part of the new Google Play, such as an improved Home Screen.
GOOG shares are down 1.8%, and GOOGL stock dipped 2.1%.
