In late trading, the Standard & Poor’s stock index is down about 0.2% at just under 1300 points. Swimming against the tide, however, are top stocks Aeronvironment (NASDAQ: AVAV ), L3 Communications (NYSE: LLL), and Constellation Energy Partners (NYSE: CEP).
Aeronvironment shares are up over 20% on a positive analyst report. Aeronvironment stock prices are well over $34, approaching a 52 week high of $35.96 for AVAV.
Also near its year high as a result of gains today is L3 Communications. LLL stock is up nearly 5%, and L3 is close to its 52 week high of $87.68. Volume is about three times the daily average for L3 Communications stock
Another big gainer, Constellation Energy Partners is up almost 9%. At nearly $3 a share, Constellation has rebounding dramatically from a 52-week low of $2.06 set just several weeks ago.
Losing the most in early session trading was Bluelinx Holdings
(NYSE: BXC), a building products company, down about 15%. Negative housing reports are clobbering stocks related to the homebuilding industry.
Also down was Koninklijke Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG), falling by almost 11%. PHG is nearing its year low $22.60. The year Volume is very heavy today for Koninklijke, more than six times the average so far.
In other big losers, Fsi International (NASDAQ: FSII) is down almost 24% today, trading under $3 a share. Volume is four times the average already. The year high for Fsi International was $5.41. It is getting close to the year low of $2.78.
