Confirmed?: When Apple (AAPL) unveils its next generation iPhone later this year, it will increase the iPhone’s display to 4.8-inches, AppleInsider notes. A variety of reports over the past few months have suggested that Apple would boost the size of the iPhone’s screen to better compete with larger smartphones from rivals like Samsung. The latest report comes from Cowen & Company analyst Timothy Arcuri, who say that Apple has now “locked down” the final design of the iPhone 6. In addition to the 4.8-inch screen, Arcuri says the iPhone 6 will also feature 802.11ac Wi-Fi connectivity, which is faster than the 802.11n Wi-Fi connection found on the current iPhone 5S. He also notes that the new iPhone will most likely be released in September. Most analysts have speculated that Apple’s next iPhone will have a screen between 4.5-inches and 5-inches. Other recent rumors have suggested that Apple will release two models of the iPhone 6 with different screen sizes. Apple has been reluctant to increase the iPhone’s screen size, but is facing rising pressure from consumers many of whom have gravitated to large-screen smartphones.

Fix: Apple device users who have reported frequent crashes since installing iOS 7 on their iPhones and iPads will soon get some relief, ArsTechnica notes. Apple says a software update is being prepared to repair a glitch that causes some iOS 7 devices to randomly reboot. The problem has affected a small number of users. Apple did not say when the bug-repairing update would be release. However, the company’s iOS 7.1 update is currently in its fourth round of beta testing with developers and may be moving closer to release.

Patent Win: A federal judge in California has found Samsung guilty of infringing on another Apple patent, TechCrunch notes. The summary ruling was issued on Tuesday by U.S. District Court Judge Lucy Koh, who has been presiding over lengthy patent-wrangling between the two companies. In the latest ruling, Koh found Samsung guilty of violating an Apple patent regarding suggested autocompletes for words entered on virtual keyboards. Samsung could still attempt to have the patent voided in an upcoming trial; however, Koh also dealt the South Korean consumer giant yet another blow by invalidating a Samsung patent involving multimedia synchronization. In August 2012, a jury in the on-going patent case found Samsung guilty of infringing on Apple patents and awarded the iPhone-maker $1 billion in damages. Koh later reduced that to $600 million and ordered a new trial to determine additional damages. Last year, another jury awarded Apple almost $300 million in additional damages.
