Starbucks Employee Fired Over Cookie Straw Rant

Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ:SBUX) employee has been fired over a viral video of her shouting at a customer.

According to USA Today, Ruby Chen,the customer that was yelled at, tried to order a Frappuccino and was accused of attempting to steal a cookie straw. The Starbucks employee yelled at Chen and told her to get out of the store. Other customers starting arguing with the employee and were also yelled at.

Starbucks immediately suspended the employee, who claimed to be a manager, and have fired her. The coffee company offered Chen a $100 gift card to make amends for her poor experience at one of its stores, reports USA Today.

The Starbucks employee at the center of the controversy is named Melissa. Despite her claims of being a manager, she was only a shift supervisor. Melissa also claims that she wasn’t fired, but instead quit her job, Life & Style Weekly notes.
