The new payment system is available to download for users of Android and Apple Inc.’s (AAPL) iOS that live in the San Francisco South Bay area. The app is called Hands Free and it works with select McDonald’s Corporation (MCD) and Papa John’s Int’l, Inc. (PZZA) locations, as well as with other local restaurants.

The app uses Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to determine when a user is near a store that is participating in the Hands Free test. The person only needs to tell the cashier “I’ll pay with Google,” to start the process and must also give their initials. The picture in their Hands Free profile is compared to their face to complete the order.

Some stores are also testing another new feature to make payments easier. This includes using an in-store camera to take a picture of the Google Hands Free customer and comparing it to their profile picture. The pictures taken by stores are deleted after the process is completed.
