A revenue split will be introduced by the company at some point, and the ads will be on these blogs starting today. It was recently announced that Yahoo-owned (NASDAQ:YHOO) Tumblr was acquired by

Verizon (NYSE:VZ).

The ads will appear on bloggers’ sites by default, and users can choose to remove the program from their functionalities using Tumblr’s settings menu. Users can get part of the revenue by signing up for the program–it is unclear when this will transpire.

“This was a long time coming, and will be one of the biggest projects we’ve ever launched at Tumblr,” Tumblr founder David Karp said.

The company recently announced an ad campaign that celebrates the 100th anniversary of Planned Parenthood of New York City. The move is slated to help the company connect to a younger audience.

The campaign is called Care That Counts and it includes the tales of patients, staff members and volunteers. It will work as a series of vignettes.

“It’s really important to us to elevate the stories of real people who are accessing our abortion services,” said Adrienne Verrilli, associate vice president for communications at Planned Parenthood of New York.

The cellphone carrier reportedly spent $4.83 billion for Yahoo. The latter made the Tumblr acquisition in 2013 for $1.1 billion.

VZ stock fell 1.2% Thursday. YHOO shares declined 0.8%.
