Burger King Debuts Cheetos Chicken Fries

Burger KingBurger King (NYSE:QSR) has launched a new product that combines one of its staple items with a Pepsi (NYSE:PEP) snack.

The Cheetos Chicken Fries are a combination of the burger chain’s Chicken Fries — which are essentially nuggets shaped like French fries — and Cheetos flavoring. Crumbs of the chips are attached to the outside of the Fries, creating a cheesy shell that gives the product a new dimension.

The move is slated to help Burger King turn its business around, as same-store sales have failed to gain momentum in recent quarters. Expect Cheetos Chicken Fries at the fast food restaurant on Wednesday, which will sell of $2.89 for a nine-piece meal.

The item is the second Burger King product that has Cheetos flavoring on it, as the company released Mac ‘n Cheetos back in June, which combine Mac ‘n Cheese with the crunchy snack. However, Chicken Fries with Cheetos may prove to be more successful as the restaurant has released several limited edition chicken items, including Buffalo Chicken Fries and Jalapeno Chicken Fries.

2016 has proven to be a transitional year for the company, as Burger King has launched a slate of experimental, new products including a Whopper-burrito hybrid, as well as a decadent Meatatarian menu overseas.

Meanwhile, Pepsi has brought back an item that proved to be a favorite in a version of Diet Pepsi that comes with asparteme sweetener.

QSR stock rose 0.3% Monday. PEP stock is up 1.2%.
