New York Fashion Week 2016: 8 Things to Know

New York Fashion Week is one of the most anticipated events of the year in the Big Apple.

The show will feature some of the biggest names in fashion, as well as plenty of celebrities and wealthy fans. Here are eight things to know about it:

  • The event begins today and lasts nine days, garnering an incredible $900 million to the state’s metro area–more than the United States Open.
  • New York Fashion Week will include names such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Tom Ford and Marchesa.
  • The show will be conducted at Skylight at Moynihan Station, Skylight at Clarkson Square, MADE @ Milk Studios, F.Y.I. @ MADE and the Shop at NYFW.
  • The weather will be especially harsh over the nine days, with the city being plagued by hot flashes and humidity.
  • One of the first day’s key New York Fashion Week launches includes Kanye West’s Yeezys, an expensive and stylish shoe brand. The singer decided to only have multiracial models to showcase the footwear.
  • Rachel Comey is rolling out apparel made from elements in a creative manner, including wooden clogs and more.
  • Tommy Hilfiger is releasing his TommyxGigi collection, collaborating with supermodel Gigi Hadid. This part of the New York Fashion Week includes rides and food.
  • At least two parties will light up the event, both uptown and downtown. One such downtown event is the idea of Kendall and Kylie Jenner who will promote their Kendall & Kylie collection.
