Bob Iger is currently serving as the CEO of Walt Disney Co. He announced his plans to leave the CEO position while at Vanity Fair’s New Establishment Summit on Tuesday. Iger’s says he will leave in mid 2019, which is when his contract with the company runs out.

While speaking at the event, Bob Iger also said that he really will be leaving Walt Disney Co in 2019. Iger has to fight skepticism after staying with the company multiple times while trying to step down. This includes an attempt to leave the CEO position in 2016.

Bob Iger’s current contract to remain as CEO of Walt Disney Co until July 2, 2019 is also the result of another failed attempt to leave. He was previously planning to step down in 2018, but those plans were called off when likely successor Tom Skaggs left the company, reports MarketWatch.

It seems that Bob Iger is truly serious about leaving Walt Disney Co this time. It’s still unknown who will take his place once he is gone. DIS may choose to bring in an outsider, or could train someone already in the company. Either way, it has over a year to prepare.

Bob Iger hasn’t said what he plans to do after he leaves Walt Disney Co. However, several sources close to the matter claim that he may throw his hat into the political ring. These sources claim that Iger may become a candidate in the 2020 presidential elections.

DIS stock was down slightly as of Wednesday afternoon.

As of this writing, William White did not hold a position in any of the aforementioned securities.
