Black Friday is often considered to be the best time to shop for items if you’re looking for a discount on a holiday gift, but it is also the worst time to shop if you care about your safety. Target has created a compromise in which it will open its doors on Thanksgiving Day, but take a break the next morning.

The retailer will officially open on Thursday, Nov. 23, which is Thanksgiving Day, at 6 p.m. Shoppers will be able to get an early start on their holiday shopping as they’ll have six hours to buy items for their friends and family.

However, Target will close once again at midnight once Thanksgiving Day ends. The Black Friday shopping will be stalled by six hours as the company will be closed from midnight until 6 a.m. Friday, at which point regular shopping hours will resume.

Target Chief Stores Officer Janna Potts released a statement, sharing that the move is designed to give the retailer’s workers “a change to recharge and prepare our stores before we pone on Friday.”

The company will also have plenty of great deals online starting this week and running through Black Friday.

TGT stock is down 0.7% Monday afternoon.
