Veterans Day is quickly approaching and InvestorPlace is celebrating with a collection of images to share on social media.
Veterans Day takes place every year on Nov. 11. The holiday celebrates all veterans that served with the United States Armed Forces. The holiday dates back to 1919 and shares a date with the official end of World War I. However, it wasn’t made an official holiday in the U.S. until 1926.
Veterans Day didn’t always go by the name it had today. Back when it was first made into an official holiday it was still called Armistice Day. It didn’t become Veterans Day until June 1, 1954 when Congress passed a bill making the change.
It’s important to note that Veterans Day and Memorial Day are not the same. While Veterans Day honors anyone that served in the military, Memorial Day is specifically for honoring those that died during service.
