Smartphones, YouTube Subscriptions and … Vampires? – Morning Linkfest (June 18)

Music streaming services have been getting a lot more attention than usual. Not long after Amazon (AMZN) launched its own music streaming service — Amazon Prime Music — Google’s (GOOG) YouTube has joined the fray, announcing a paid service for streaming music. Here’s Reuters’ Alexei Oreskovic what to expect from the YouTube streaming service.

Ars Technica (Casey Johnston): The YouTube service might be bad news for independent labels. Artists only have a few days to sign with — or else get booted by — the YouTube subscription service.

The Verge (Jacob Kastrenakes): Elsewhere in the tech world, everyone’s expecting Amazon to unveil a 3D smartphone today, and some insiders are already talking about the secret history of the Amazon smartphone.
