Janet Yellen wasn’t the only person giving a big talk over the last few days. Many prominent hedge fund managers and institutional investors were also prognosticating. Television network CNBC hosted its 4th annual Delivering Alpha Conference, in which some of the brightest hedge fund minds gave their opinions on what stocks, sectors and just what the global economy would do. It’s valuable information for home gamers as well. Here’s the Wall Street Journal’s Money Beat team with a live blog of the event.

Reuters (Svea Herbst-Bayliss): It’s all hugs and kisses for Icahn and Ackman at Delivering Alpha. The feud may be over.

Market Watch (William Watts): Delivering Alpha? Maybe we shouldn’t be paying attention. After all, hedge funds still lag the S&P 500.

Business Insider (Julia La Roche): But Delivering Alpha did deliver the goods last year (for the most part). Take a look at last year’s picks.

TraderFeed (Brett Steenbarger): Bubbles are great. Really great. At least until they pop. Then comes the screaming.

Bloomberg (Jacob Adelman and Chisaki Watanabe): So how about that nuclear free Japan? The country is approaching approval to restart its nuclear energy programs.

Pension Partners (Charlie Bilello): It’s beginning to look a lot like 2007 again. “Hello?! McFly?!”

The New York Times’ Deal Book (Andrew Ross Sorkin & Michael J. De La Merced): Hooray for even less choice in the media world! Fox (FOXA) makes a big big big bid for Time Warner (TWX). Like … really big.

Financial Times (Duncan Robinson, Shannon Bond and Arash Massoudi): Speaking of big deals, the U.S. tobacco industry is pretty much as big as it can get with Reynolds’s American’s (RAI) recent big buy.

Bespoke Investment Group (Staff): Guess what? Retail sales still suck. And this time they can’t blame the weather.
