Amazon claims that Hatchette should cut the price of e-books in order to sell more. The company gives figures that claim an e-book selling at $14.99 would move 100,000 copies compared to 174,000 copies is it was sold for $9.99. This would put total revenue for the book with sales at $9.99 higher than if it was at $14.99, Forbes notes.

Amazon claims that lowering book prices will lead to more money for everyone. The online retailer also said that it believes Hatchette should split profits equally between itself and authors. The company believes that the publisher is taking too large of a share of money when a book is sold, reports Forbes.

The ongoing feud between Amazon and Hatchette has had its twist and turns. Shortly after the feud between the publisher and online retailer began, other companies, such as Walmart (WMT), jumped in to fill the void with discounts on books by the publisher. Amazon also attempted to win over Hatchette authors with a deal that would give them all of the profit from book sales while the feud over prices lasted.
