The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is changing its guidelines for treating Ebola.

CDCThe agency said that health workers will have to wear protective gear with “no skin showing” from now on. A site manager will ensure that all workers cover their body properly.

Health workers will receive more intense training that will include practicing getting in and out of equipment quickly and repeatedly.

A “buddy system” will also be in place where workers check in on each other as they come in and out of their shifts. The CDC’s revised guidelines are based on World Health Organization protocol.

The move comes after Dr. Anthony Fauci, head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said that health workers caring for the Ebola patient in Dallas who died had some skin exposed.

A nurse caring for the Dallas patient was diagnosed and confirmed as the second case of Ebola in the US last week.
