The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is suing AT&T (T) for allegedly throttling unlimited data plans.

ftc-att-tAccording to the FTC lawsuit that was filed on Tuesday, AT&T deceived customers with its unlimited data plans. The company does warn that speeds could be slowed due to high uses of data, but the FTC claims that this wasn’t a specific enough warning for customers, reports The New York Times.

The lawsuit is seeking millions of dollars from AT&T to return to customers of its unlimited plans. The FTC claims that unlimited should mean unlimited and that some of the company’s customers have seen speeds cut by as much as 95% by the company, NYT notes.

The Federal Communications Commission has also taken a stab at AT&T’s unlimited data plans. It says that many users of the plan have reported slow speeds and that those with this issue should report it to them regardless of their wireless carrier, reports Time.
