Google Is (Finally) Getting Rid of CAPTCHA

Google (GOOG) has developed a new way of determining whether or not you’re a robot without a CAPTCHA.

GoogleYou will no longer have to type in a painfully long, scrambled combination of characters to prove that you are not, in fact, a robot. The tech giant created a new API that simply asks you whether or not you’re a robot.

You answer the question by clicking “No” in the checkbox and a code will validate you as a human being. Most websites will be given an option to use the old CAPTCHA or Google’s new API but chances are many sites are working on making the change now.

The company made the decision after realizing that CAPTCHAs are not that useful to begin with–robots solve these puzzles with a 99.8% success rate.

GOOG stock is down 0.46% Wednesday afternoon.
