Minimum Wage Increase 2015: 20 States That Will Get a Hike

A minimum wage increase in 2015 will provide a boost for more than 4.4 million workers in 20 states.

Nine of these states have yearly increases due to state laws that automatically raises wages based on inflation. The other states will benefit from recent changes in minimum wage laws.

Here’s the full list of states that will receive a minimum wage increase in 2015 with their new wages, as of Jan. 1:

  • Alaska: $8.75
  • Arizona: $8.05
  • Arkansas: $7.50
  • Colorado: $8.23
  • Connecticut: $9.15
  • Delaware: $8.25
  • Florida: $8.05
  • Hawaii: $7.75
  • Maryland: $8.00
  • Massachusetts: $9.00
  • Minnesota: $9.00
  • Missouri: $7.65
  • Montana: $8.05
  • Nebraska: $8.00
  • New Jersey: $8.38
  • New York: $8.75
  • Ohio: $8.10
  • Oregon: $9.25
  • Rhode Island: $9.00
  • South Dakota: $8.50
  • Vermont: $9.15
  • Washington: $9.47
  • West Virginia: $8.00

About half a million workers in Delaware and Minnesota will also benefit from minimum wage increases later in 2015.

Overall, workers will earn an additional $2.5 billion throughout the course of the year.
