Google (NASDAQ:GOOG,NASDAQ:GOOGL) Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt says Google Glass isn’t dead.

According to Schmidt, Google Glass is currently being worked on to make it ready for users. He claims that the wearable device is on of its long-term projects and that the company will continue to develop it, reports The Wall Street Journal.

The new version of Google Glass is being prepared for use by the public is being worked on by Tony Fadell. Fadell heads Google’s Nest division and also created the iPod for Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL). The next version of the device will have a longer battery and several other improvements, WSJ notes.

“There will be no public experimentation,” one of Fadell’s advisors told The New York Times in February. “Tony is a product guy and he’s not going to release something until it’s perfect.”
