Minecraft is adding a female default character to the game called Alex.
Before the introduction of Alex, users had to settle for Steve, a male character wearing a cyan T-shirt. Minecraft users will be able to play as a female miner as of April 29 on all versions of the game.
Alex will be an update that features “thinner arms, redder hair, and a ponytail”, according to Mojang. She will be available for Xbox and PlayStation first, and later to Pocket Edition players.
PC and Mac users were able to use Alex already but she was randomly assigned and not a selectable player.
In the past, Minecraft developers have said that the game has no gender as each character is simply a Human Being.
