Amazon (AMZN) has proposed a drone zone that would allow unmanned vehicles to travel at high speeds through the air.

Amazon’s drone zone plans would set aside space from the ground up to 200 feet for normal drones. 200 and 400 feet would be for high-speed drones and the space between 400 and 500 feet would be a no-fly zone. The company argues that a set up like this would keep drones out of the way of other aircraft, reports CNNMoney.

Amazon said that it’s important that a drone zone be created due to the growing popularity of the aircraft. It predicts that the number of drones in the air will outnumber typical aircraft in the next 10 years. Amazon wants to use its drones for high-speed deliveries and currently has permission from the Federal Aviation Administration to test some of their devices, CNN Money notes.

Current rulings on drones allow them to fly up to the 400-foot mark. If Amazon’s suggestions come true, it would force most drone hobbyist to fly their vehicles lower than what they currently can. However, drones that meet certain standards would still be allowed up to 400 feet, reports Fortune.
