The Latest Apple Car Rumors

The hiring of ex-Chrysler (FCAU) senior executive Doug Betts by Apple (AAPL) may be another hint at the Apple Car.

He doesn’t list his specific role at the company, but it’s possible that he’s there to work on the rumored Apple Car. Other experts in similar fields have also been hired by the company recently, reports The Los Angeles Times.

It’s believed that the Apple Car will be an electric vehicle to rival Tesla’s (TSLA) offerings. The company has billion of dollars in profits that it could use to fund research of its own car. Its only current interaction with vehicles is the CarPlay system, L.A. Times notes.

The Apple Car is reportedly being called “Project Titan” and development is being lead by Steve Zadesky, who developed the iPod. It’s rumored that the car will be self-driving and that it appears similar to a minivan. The company has also been upping its maps game and could be developing the car in Ireland or Cupertino, Calif., reports Business Insider.
