Facebook Inc (FB) will now be targeting non-FB users with its ads.
A new change to how the Facebook ad system works will have it making educated guesses as to the interest of non-users while their on other websites. It will then target them with ads that might appeal to their interests.
Facebook said that it’s able to use this system because it understands the likes and dislikes of the over 1.6 billion active users of its service. It’s also working to root out what it calls “bad advertising,” reports TechCrunch.
Non-FB users can keep themselves from being tracked
by the social media company in the U.S thanks to the Digital Advertising Alliance. There are similar programs in Canada and Europe to stop tracking, as well.
