Flag Day 2016 will take place this Tuesday.
The holiday is celebrated on June 14 every year, in honor of the day in which the U.S. adopted the flag that it currently waves to display its freedom.
Flag Day marks the beginning of a 21-day period that honors the country through July 4, which is Independence Day.
The National Flag Day Foundation helps to put together events in commemoration of the day throughout the country.
