Tim Tebow has been training for MLB tryouts over the last year. There are reportedly 20 teams that are interested to see how the former NFL player performs. He already had a tryout with the Los Angeles Dodgers before the season this year and scouts were interested in him. The Aug. 30 tryout will take place in Los Angeles.

Tim Tebow’s decision to try out for an MLB team comes after four years away from the NFL. He last played in 2012 for the New York Jets, but went to training camp with two different teams in 2013 and 2015. Both times he was cut before the season started. He hasn’t played baseball full time since he was a junior in high school in 2005, reports ESPN.

One MLB scout told NJ.com that his team would have scouted Tim Tebow if he had chosen to continue playing baseball back in 2005. However, he is now 29 years old and has been away from the game for over a decade. The chance of him getting into a Major League team is slim, but it is possible that the NFL player could end up on a minor league team.

“He’s going to be a power hitter,” Chad Moeller, a former New York Yankee player, told The New York Daily News about Tim Tebow. “The thing I think gives him the best chance to succeed is that he can drive the ball the other way very well and hits it very hard. He has good discipline at the plate.”
