Hackers mined the data from the new Pokemon Go update and discovered various bits of code that are related to the Buddy System. This code reveals that Alphabet Inc’s (NASDAQ:GOOG,GOOGL) Niantic, the developer of the game, is working on a feature to let trainers walk with their Pokemon during their journeys.

The mined data from the Pokemon Go update was released on Pokemon Go Hub. The website acts as a place for trainers to get the newest data about the game. It also includes charts, a calculator and tips for those starting out.

The mined data from the Pokemon Go update appears to show that trainers will be able to select a single Pokemon to travel beside them. It looks like the system will use the same data as egg walking. Trainers will get candy for their efforts. However, there is likely a limit on how much candy can be earned in a single day.

Various bits of code also shows that the Pokemon Go Buddy System will allow Pokemon to interact with trainers in different ways. This includes having them sit on their shoulder, fly next to them and more.

The Pokemon Go Buddy System likely sounds all too familiar to older fans of the franchise. When Nintendo Co., Ltd (ADR) (OTCMKTS:NTDOY) released Pokemon Yellow for the Game Boy in 1998, players could have their Pikachu follow them around in the Kanto region of the Pokemon world.
