A new DeLorean is in the works.

The company has yet to manufacture the new car, but pre-orders for the 2017 DeLorean DMC-12 are already available for those looking to be atop the list once these vehicles are released.

DeLorean wrote in a blog post that it would begin accepting applications today as not many of these vehicles will be produced. These orders are non-binding as the details surrounding the car have yet to be fully determined.

The company hopes to make one car per month for the first year, then one car per week for the following year. It is unclear how much it will retail for, but early estimates are at around $100,000.

The first DeLorean DMC-12 came to life thanks to engineer John Z. DeLorean who was in charge of the vehicle, designed by Georgette Giugiaro. It had a V-6 engine and it was not exactly a success when first released.

Only 9,200 DMC-12s were manufactured in Northern Ireland before filing for bankruptcy as DeLorean was arrested on cocaine trafficking charges. The car was immortalized as the time machine in the three Back to the Future movies, garnering cult status around the world.

The follow-up to the 1981 car will have about 130 more horsepower than the original. You will be able to choose between manual and automatic transmissions when driving it, but we’re not sure how far back into the future you’ll be able to travel.
