Rockstar Games is teasing its fans on Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) with the possibility of a Red Dead Redemption 2.

Rockstar Tweeted out an image that hinted that it may be working on a Red Dead Redemption sequel. The image shows seven silhouettes walking on the horizon with the sun at their backs. Several of the silhouettes appearing to be wearing cowboy hats and are carrying various different guns.

Rockstar didn’t say anything about the image when it posted it and it hasn’t updated its Twitter account with any extra information. However, it did set the image as the banner for the top of its profile page.

Here’s what some users of Rockstar’s website had to say about the possible Red Dead Redemption 2 image.

  • “I hope we don’t have to wait too long for this, I can’t wait to play it. Hopefully on PC !!!”
  • “So could this game be out by next year 2017?”
  • “Well the whole world is waiting in anticipation Rockstar. Good job.”

It’s still unknown exactly what Rockstar games may have planned for a possible sequel to Red Dead Redemption. However, the image of seven cowboys may hint that the game could follow a story based on The Magnificent Seven, which is itself based on Seven Samurai.

The original Red Dead Redemption was released six years ago for Sony Corp (ADR)’s (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox 360. The game, which is a sequel to 2004’s Red Dead Revolver, was well received by both reviewers and gamers. It has a Metacritic score of 95 out of 100 for both the PlaySation 3 and Xbox 360 versions.
