Nissan Recalls 250,000 Vehicles

Japanese automaker Nissan (PINK:NSANY) on Thursday announced the global recall of about 250,000 vehicles because of a loose sensor, which could cause fuel leaks, Reuters reported.

The recall spans across seven models — Nissan’s Juke, Serena, Patrol, Tiida and Micra, as well as luxury brand Infiniti’s M and QX models, a company spokesman told Reuters. He also said the loose sensor had not yet caused any accidents.

Thursday’s announcement follows a smaller recall made earlier this week by Nissan North America, which flagged about 1,000 Nissan Altima and Versa sedans for the repair of side curtain air bags. According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a bad mix of propellants could prevent the vehicle’s air bags from inflating.

Earlier this week, Honda (NYSE:HMC) recalled 46,000 Odyssey minivans across the 2008 and 2009 model years because of a problem with the power tailgates. Faulty gas-filled struts in the tailgates potentially could leak, which might cause the tailgates to suddenly drop a few inches before an electric motor kicks in and slows the fall. So far, two minor injuries connected with the tailgates have been reported.
