According to The Guardian, Apple deleted songs from users iPods from 2006 to 2009 without telling them. Songs were deleted if they came from a rival music store. This meant that users were limited to storing music bought from iTunes on their devices. The company said this was due to them being paranoid about security.

If an iPod user synced their device to iTunes and it had music from a rival store on it, they would be told that there was an error and that they needed to perform a factory restore. The factory restore remove everything from it and an iTunes restore would only put music from iTunes back on the device. Apple claimed it didn’t tell users about the issue because it thought it would confuse them, The Guardian notes.

Steve Jobs acted as one of the main witnesses in the Apple iPod lawsuit. A video recording of him from 2011 served as his testimony.

The Apple lawsuit is for $350 million, but that number could triple due to anti-trust laws.
