Alphabet’s (GOOG) Google has announced that its updating Google Maps to include an offline feature.
The new update to Google Maps will make it so that users can continue to use the service even if they’re in an area with a weak connection. This new feature makes it so that users can get directions, look up locations and more without having to go online.
The new Google Maps feature requires users to download a part of the map they are interested in before it can be used. The service will only allow users to download this data over Wi-Fi due to the large size of it.
The current update for Google Maps will be limited to Android devices. However, Google said that an update for the Apple (AAPL) iOS version of the app will be released in the near future.
