Playdead’s Inside: What Reviewers Are Saying

Playdead will finally release its long-awaited game Inside.

Playdead

The game is an Xbox One and PC title that’s been in the works for six years, since the release of the popular puzzle platformer Limbo, which was released in 2010.

Here is what reviewers are saying about the game:

  • “The player controls a young boy in a bleak, dystopian world who moves, jumps and manipulates objects exactly like the protagonist of the game’s predecessor.” –International Business Times
  • “So many elements of this game’s scenarios and design feel marvelously, searingly creative.” –Giant Bomb
  • “While Limbo was ostensibly a story about a boy rescuing his sister, Inside is more concerned with pulling you into its world than telling the story of any one specific character.” –Polygon
  • “The real achievement of this game, though, is the way that it crafts its narrative: detailed environments convey the bizarre world that you travel through; introspective moments are filled with minimalist sound design and just the barest touches of music; and the things you must do to complete your journey force you to confront the realities of humanity, freedom, and existence.” –GameSpot
  • “You’ll be using your imagination to fill in the rest—the darkest parts of it. From the off, Inside sets a beautifully horror-tinged mood as you avoid the headlights of oncoming trucks, or just barely dodge the snarling jaws of an attack dog. Within a minute, you feel like you’re really being chased.” –Wired

The game is slated for a June 29 release for Xbox One.
