Free Shipping Day is actually a fairly new shopping event. The first one took place in 2008. It was created with the goal of getting customers to continue online shopping after Cyber Monday. The promise of having orders in by Christmas Eve was made to alleviate customers’ fears that order wouldn’t make it in time for Christmas Day.
