The news about Windows Phones from Joe Belfiore came during a series of Tweets sent out on Sunday. In these Tweets, he was answering questions that other users had about the devices and what is coming in the future.

One person on Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) asked Joe Belfiore if Microsoft will continue to support Windows Phones. Belfiore said that there will continue to put out bug fixes and security updates for the devices. However, he says that new features and hardware aren’t the company’s current focus.

Another person asked Joe Belfiore if it was time to leave the Windows Phone platform and this was his response.

“Depends who you are. Many companies still deploy to their employees and we will support them! As an individual end-user, I switched platforms for the app/hw diversity. We will support those users too! Choose what’s best 4 u.”

Joe Belfiore also notes that Microsoft worked very hard to try and bring app developers to Windows Phone, but that it never worked out. He says that the company even went so far as to write apps for developers, but the lack of users on the platform kept them from investing in it.

Joe Belfiore also talked about Edge, Microsoft’s new web browser, in the Tweets. He notes that the beta for Edge on Apple Inc’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iOS devices is full. There’s also a version of Edge in the works for Alphabet Inc’s (NASDAQ:GOOG,GOOGL) Android devices, but Belfiore didn’t say when it will be ready.

As of this writing, William White did not hold a position in any of the aforementioned securities.
