A video of a pediatrician showing you how to calm a crying baby has gone viral.
Dr. Robert Hamilton, a pediactrician at Pacific Ocean Pediatrics in Santa Monica, California, shows you a technique called ‘The Hold’ that can make any crying baby relax and stop crying.
The Hold consists of holding the crying baby up and folding their right arm over their left arm across their chest. With the hand you use to fold the baby’s arms, you also support their chin.
Next, you hold the baby’s bottom with your dominant hand, using the fleshy part of the hand rather than your fingertips. Finally, you position the baby in a 45-degree angle and gently rock him.
Sometimes you rock him side by side and sometimes in a circular motion, both clockwise and counterclockwise.
