Buy these 5 stocks to make a diversified play on the recovery

Berkshire HathawayBerkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.A, BRK.B) bought Deere (NYSE:DE) stock in the third quarter. That is a company to own in almost any portfolio.

Only with Warren Buffett’s company, you get about a thousand other holdings as well — once you’ve bought Berkshire Hathaway, you really don’t need many other stocks.

On the housing front, Berkshire’s HomeServices of America division, a residential real estate brokerage, is partnering with Brookfield Asset Management (NYSE:BAM) — whose Prudential and Real Living real estate brands generated $72 billion in residential real estate sales volume in 2011 — to form a real estate powerhouse.

In addition, Buffett won an auction at the end of October to buy $1.5 billion in residential loans through Residential Capital LLC.

These are two clear indications the Oracle of Omaha thinks the worst is behind us. I’m inclined to agree.
