MCD Menu Changes: McDonald’s to Cut 8 Meals, Ingredients

McDonald’s (MCD) is looking to remove a number of offerings and ingredients as it trims its menu.

MCD MenuThe chain has slowly been shifting from being a fast food restaurant to a casual dining establishment. With the move, McDonald’s is hoping to finally lose the “junk food” label.

The restaurant is cutting eight items from its menu including a reduction of its Extra Value Meals from 16 to 11. McDonald’s did not indicate what items specifically will be removed.

The company is also getting rid of artificial ingredients to make its menu more appealing and its products healthier. “Why do we need to have preservatives in our food?” asked USA president Mike Andres. “We probably don’t.”

A few months ago, the chain made its intentions known by launching a campaign to counter common McDonald’s myths.

MCD stock is down 1.49% Wednesday afternoon.
