Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) is currently in the early stages of talks to purchase Compagnie Financière Richemont-owned Net-a-Porter.
Net-a-Porter is an online retailer that deal in luxury items. It’s unknown how much Amazon is willing to pay for the company. One report claimed it could be around $2.19 billion. However, an unnamed source told Forbes that it will likely be lower than that.
Amazon has been looking for a way to establish itself as an online retailer that can deal in luxury items. However, its discount and deals reputation has kept if from doing so. If it does acquire Net-a-Porter for close to $2 billion, it would be the company’s largest acquisition to date, reports Forbes.
Business Insider sought out both Amazon and Net-a-Porter to get a comment on the possible deal between the two. However, both online retailer’s refused to comment on the matter.
