3M Co (MMM) Earnings Fall Short of Expectations

3M Co (NYSE:MMM), a technology company, posted its earnings report for the first quarter of 2015 on Thursday.

3m-co-mmm3M’s Q1 2015 earnings report saw it post earnings per share of $1.85. This is roughly a 3% increase from the earnings per share of $1.79 that it posted during its earnings report for Q1 2014. However, it failed to meet analysts’ estimate of $1.93 for the quarter.

For the first quarter of 2015, 3M reported sales of $7.6 billion. This is about a 3% decrease from the 7.83 billion in sales that it reported for the same time last year. It also failed to meet analysts estimates of 7.84 billion.

3M has also updated its guidance for the full year of 2015 in its most recent earnings report. It’s expecting earnings per share to be between $7.80 to $8.10, instead of the previously expected range of $8.00 to $8.30 per share. It also predicts that sales will be down 6% to 7% for the year, as opposed to its previous expectations of 4% to 5%.

MMM shares were down 2% as of Noon Thursday.
