Forbes has released its annual list of the richest people in the world.

The 2016 edition ranks the wealthiest entrepreneurs, investors and tech billionaires in the world, including many of the usual suspects such as Bill Gates and Carlos Slim Helu.

We have compiled the 10 richest ones, based on their net worth according to Forbes. Just missing the list are Liliane Bettencourt, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who come in at 11, 12 and 13 respectively.

#9 (tie): David Koch – $39.6 B

David Koch is one of two brothers who shares control of Koch Industries, Inc.

The Wichita-based multinational corporation has companies that are involved in oil pipelines, refineries, fiber, intermediates and polymers, minerals, fertilizers and more.

Koch is also a libertarian, running as the 1980 candidate for Vice President of the United States from the United States Libertarian Party. He helped to finance the campaign.

David’s real-time net-worth is $41 billion as of Feb. 29, 2016.

#9 (tie): Charles Koch – $39.6 B

Charles Koch is the other half of Koch Industries, Inc.

Along with his brother, Charles has helped the corporation invest in building materials, paper towels and Dixie cups in addition to its oil business. He and David has raised and spent almost $900 million on political activity and education, including a criminal-justice reform this year.

Koch has written two successful books about his business practices, including the 2015 title Good Profit and 2007’s The Science of Success.

#8: Michael Bloomberg – $40 B

The Manhattan-based privately-held company focuses on financial software, data and media. Bloomberg LP was founded in 1981 and it now provides financial software tools, including analytics and equity trading platform, data services and more.

The business magnate is also a well-known politician, serving as the 108th Mayor of New York, holding office for three consecutive terms, starting in 2001.

#7: Larry Ellison – $43.6 B

Larry Ellison is the CTO, founder and former CEO of Oracle Corporation (NYSE:ORCL).

The California-based company specializes on global computer technology, developing and marketing database software and technology, as well as cloud engineered systems and enterprise software products.

Ellison has also experienced success in yachting through yacht racing syndicate Oracle Team USA. He is a well-known philanthropist, donating about 1% of his wealth to charity.

Ellison’s real-time net worth is $45.2 billion as of Feb. 29, 2016.

#6: Mark Zuckerberg – $44.6 B

Mark Zuckerberg is the cofounder, Chairman and CEO of Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB).

The California-based social media site has become one of the preeminent outlets for digital socializing, surpassing the 1-billion active-user mark in 2015, with that number reaching 1.44 billion as of March 31, 2015.

The tech wiz and wife Priscilla Chan announced on Dec. 1, 2015 that they would give 99% of their Facebook shares (worth about $45 billion at the time) to the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, which exists to “advance human potential and promote equality in areas such as health, education, scientific research and energy.”

Zuckerberg’s real-time net worth is $46.7 billion as of Feb. 29, 2016.

#5: Jeff Bezos – $45.2 B

Jeff Bezos is the CEO and founder of Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN).

The e-commerce retailer started as an online bookstore in 1994 based out of Seattle. Since then, Amazon has grown into an international company with total assets worth $65.444 billion and 2015 revenue of $107 billion.

The tech entrepreneur purchased The Washington Post in 2013 for $250 million in cash. He was also one of Google’s first investors, investing $250,000 in 1998.

Bezos’ real-time net worth is $48.9 billion as of Feb. 29, 2016.

#4: Carlos Slim Helu – $50 B

Carlos Slim Helu is the Chairman & CEO of América Móvil SAB de CV (NYSE:AMX) and Samsung Mexico.

Mexico City-based América Móvil is the fourth largest mobile network operator in the world in terms of equity subscribers, providing services to 289.4 million wireless subscribers, 34.3 million landlines, 22.6 million broadband accesses and 21.5 million PayTV units as of the end of 2014.

The business magnate is also known for his philanthropic work, which includes Fundación Carlos Slim Helú, the sponsor of Museo Soumaya in Mexico City, which holds 66,000 pieces.

#3: Warren Buffett – $60.8 B

Warren Buffett is the CEO of investment conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway.

The Rhode Island-based holding company has investments in a number of business in multiple industries such as insurance, energy, apparel and financial products.

The business magnate and investor has survived prostate cancer and pledged to donate 99% of his fortune to philanthropic causes, primarily through the Gates Foundation.

Buffett’s real-time net worth is $64.3 billion as of Feb. 29, 2016.

#2: Amancio Ortega – $67 B

Amancio Ortega is the founding chairman of Inditex SA.

The Galicia-based multinational clothing company consists of close to a hundred companies that specialize on textile design, production and distribution–Ortega is the largest shareholder of Inditex.

One of those companies is Zara clothing company, which Ortega founded in 1975 with his wife Rosalía Mera. He takes a very active part in the production and design process in the company.

Ortega’s real-time net worth is $70.3 billion as of Feb. 29, 2016.

Bill Gates is co-founder and former chairman and CEO of Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT).

The Washington-based company has expanded since its inception 40 years ago to personal computing, Microsoft Office suite, Internet Explorer and Edge web browsers, and even gaming with the Xbox One.

Gates is mostly known for his philanthropic work these days, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which has an endowment of $44.3 billion as of 31 December 2014.

The organization has helped the less-privileged in a number of areas including financial services, agricultural development and the availability of hygienic drinking water. Additionally, it has helped combat AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.

Bill Gates’ real-time net worth is $76.6 billion as of Feb. 29, 2016.
