Google Fuchsia may just be the next big operating system released by Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG,NASDAQ:GOOGL).
The Google Fuchsia named popped up on GitHub and it is an open-source operating system being worked on by the company. There’s not much known about it right now and rumors are already circulating.
Google Fuchsia has been confirmed by Google employee Brian Swetland, but the company hasn’t made any official announcements yet. What is known about the new operating system is that it isn’t based on Android or Linux.

- The Magenta kernel seen in documentation is compatible with a variety of devices, which backs up the unified operating system rumor.
- It will be available on Raspberry Pi 3.
- Travis Geislebrecht, who has worked on Palm, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Danger operating system projects, is working on Google Fuchsia.
- It appears that the operating system is using Flutter for its user interface.
- The new operating system is majorly written in the Dart programming language.
- Escher is the renderer being used for the project.
