Hershey (HSY) is considering cutting high-fructose corn syrup from some of its products.

According to a Hershey spokesman, the company may chose to remove high-fructose corn syrup in favor of sugar. The products that could be affected by the potential switch weren’t listed and the company said that it didn’t have a time frame for when the switch would occur, reports The Chicago Tribune.

The possibility of Hershey removing high-fructose corn syrup from some of its products comes at a time when the sweetener isn’t being consumed as much. Part of the decline in high-fructose corn syrup consumption comes from the lowered demand for soft drinks. It also isn’t helped by the lower prices of sugar in the U.S., The Tribune notes.

“We take into account what consumers want. And consumers are telling us between the two, they prefer sugar,” Will Papa, chief research and development officer at Hershey, told The New York Post.

HSY shares were down slightly as of Wednesday afternoon.
